Submit a Proposal for 2024 FRN Teach Share
January 16–18, 2024, the Faculty Resource Network (FRN) will host its annual Teach Share program via Zoom during a three-day event. We invite all interested FRN faculty, instructional designers, and educational technologists to submit a proposal for a 10-minute case study presentation around strategies, tools, techniques, and challenges for integrating, avoiding, or forbidding generative AI into student assignments and assessments (student use) or for helping to using generative AI to create assignments and assessments (faculty use).
The deadline to submit a proposal is Friday, December 8, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. ET. You will be notified if your proposal is accepted by Friday, December 15, 2023.

Opportunities for FRN Faculty
Exciting New Faculty Residency Opportunity!
We are thrilled to announce a wonderful faculty summer residency opportunity, co-sponsored by the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center (KJCC) at New York University. The Center promotes research and teaching on Spain and the Spanish-speaking world at New York University, including free public programs for a general audience that highlight the history, politics, and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. This residency opportunity is available for the month of July 2024 and includes faculty housing with physical and electronic access to the NYU Division of Libraries and the use of an office in the KJCC, among other resources provided by the Faculty Resource Network. We encourage early-career and junior faculty to consider this residency, which is open to scholars whose research and teaching align with the KJCC’s mission. Lead an FRN Network Program Seminar
FRN Network Summer and FRN Network Winter are two of our most successful programs reaching over 250 faculty and administrators annually. If you would like to lead an FRN seminar during FRN Network Summer or FRN Network Winter, we welcome you to propose a topic for a future program cycle. Within each program of study, we place a special emphasis on teaching methodologies that will have a direct impact on the undergraduate curriculum and educational experience. Successful seminars are those that can reach a broad range of faculty across disciplines. Submit a seminar proposal now!
NYU’s Immersive Technology Lab (iTLAB) Introduces FRN Remote Services
NYU’s Immersive Technology Lab (iTLAB) offers support to faculty exploring the potential of XR (eXtended reality) technologies. Our remote services for the Faculty Resource Network (FRN) include consultations for beginner, intermediate, and advanced XR needs; remotely guided introductions to virtual reality for FRN members that have access to VR equipment; and guidance in determining the best methods to achieve goals exploring the potential of XR technologies. News Around the Network
Dr. Eric D. Lamore (University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez) has successfully published a new book titled Abigail Field Mott’s The Life and Adventures of Olaudah Equiano: A Scholarly Edition, an adaptation of Olaudah Equiano’s Interesting Narrative, published for Black children in 1829. The book is available for order now!
Chaminade University of Honolulu received a $750,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to expand its Higher Education in Prison (HEP) program. The program, focused on rehabilitation through education, aims to provide incarcerated individuals with new perspectives and goals to help them reintegrate into society successfully. Currently serving only male inmates at Halawa Correctional Facility, Chaminade plans to extend the program to include the Women’s Community Correctional Center and the Saguaro Prison in Arizona. The goal is to expand degree offerings, emphasizing a humanities and liberal arts curriculum in a culturally responsive manner.
Spelman College has been named a 2023 Fulbright Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Institutional Leader by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This designation recognizes the College’s strong engagement with the Fulbright Program, showcasing its commitment to international academic exchange. Spelman has received this honor for four consecutive years. The College emphasizes global engagement for its students, with 53 participants in the Fulbright Fellows Program to date.
Assistant Professor of Social Work, Dr. Colleen Martinez, and Adjunct Faculty Member Jeena Williams (Ramapo College of New Jersey) recently had a chapter published in White Supremacy, and Racial Justice Reckoning With Our History, Interrogating our Present, Reimagining our Future. In their chapter “Envisioning Anti-Racist Social Work Organizational Change: Amplifying the Grey Literature,” they aim to answer the question “what do social work organizations need to do to become anti-racist?” by conducting a qualitative analysis of grey literature on the topic.
